Our annual AGM was held on Wednesday 11th September at the Arab-British Chamber of Commerce. The meeting was followed by a presentation on Saleh al Kamal given by Ms Pat Lancaster and Sir William Patey, who have co-authored Once Upon a Time in Makkah: The Story of Saleh Kamel.
Saleh al Kamal was a pioneering Saudi businessman who, from relatively humble beginnings, built a business empire. Once Upon a Time in Makkah: The Story of Saleh Kamel Visionary, Entrepreneur, Philanthropist tells the story of his life that spanned eight decades, in which he played a pivotal role in Islamic banking, media, urban development and social welfare, not only in his native Saudi Arabia, but also far beyond.
During the event, the authors, Ms Pat Lancaster, a Middle East journalist, and Sir William Patey, our outgoing SBS Chair and former British Ambassador to Saudi Arabia and Afghanistan, kindly offered a number of free copies of the book to members and their guests.
After the Presentation a drinks reception with an Arabesque buffet was held in the ABCC’s Rose Suite and the adjoining terrace.
