After the AGM, Mr. Tarek Alireza gave a talk entitled The Postal History of Saudi Arabia.
The talk described how the postal service in Arabia developed from its beginnings in antiquity through the early years of Saudi rule in the 1930s. The talk was accompanied by a film.
Mr. Alireza has been collecting stamps with a special emphasis on Saudi Arabia’s since 1967. He is a Fellow of the Royal Philatelic Society of London and has exhibited world-wide. He has won several prizes for his exhibitions, most recently winning a Large Gold and Best in Show award in London this year.
He is currently working on a book on the postal history of Saudi Arabia.
